What it does

MonoCycle is a single-cycle waveform designer: a focused workbench for building precise, perfectly tuned single-cycle WAVs, ready to drop onto a Roland SP-404mkII, an Elektron Digitakt, or any sampler that loops short files. Loop one cycle and the sampler becomes a monophonic synthesizer — the waveform sets the timbre, playback speed sets the pitch.

The catch with single cycles is tuning: the cycle's length in samples sets its fundamental, and a few samples of error make every note sharp or flat. MonoCycle does that math automatically, so the work is sculpting the tone — two oscillators with nine wave types, ten combine modes (ring, AM, true-phase FM, wavefold, logic ops…), four shape stages, a filter section with LFO, and a drawable 256-point wavetable editor. The live preview plays the loop at the export pitch: what you hear is exactly the file.

Quickstart

  1. Pick or design a tone — oscillators, combine mode, shaping, filter.
  2. Set the target note the file should play at when triggered at native rate.
  3. Hit Play to audition the exact export, then Export WAV (48 kHz mono, 16- or 24-bit) and drop it on your sampler's card.
